- 2012-05-15-New Port Coquitlam Community Foundation Takes a Step Forward - (pdf) - Port Coquitlam residents will soon have a new way to support their community, following the appointment of the new Port Coquitlam Community Foundation board Monday night.
- 2012 05 09 - New Live Fire Training Building Open in Port Coquitlam - (pdf) - Constructed from metal shipping containers at Fire Hall No. 1, the building has seen almost daily use in 2012 for a wide variety of firefighter training. Local officials and the media were invited to tour the building at its grand opening on May 9.
- 2012-05-07 - Cheer on the Rick Hansen Relay May 17 and Show Your Spirit - (pdf) - The cross-Canada relay will be in Port Coquitlam from about 1:30 to 4:20 p.m. on May 17 as it nears the end of its 12,000-km journey, which began Aug. 24 in Newfoundland. Thirty-four people who have overcome adversity and made a difference will complete Port Coquitlam’s segments on foot or wheel, bearing a handcrafted silver medal on Hansen’s behalf.

- 2012-05-01 - Join in Port Coquitlam's 89th May Day Festival May 4-13 - (pdf) - May Pole dancing, a parade through downtown Port Coquitlam, guided walks, a carnival, Youth Week events and more are planned for the 2012 celebration from May 4 to 13. Most events are free.

- 2012-04-23 - Port Coquitlam Council Shaves Expenses to Reduce Tax Increases - (pdf) - Council concluded its public consultation Monday night on the 2012-2016 Financial Plan, scheduled for consideration on April 30 and adoption on May 14. The plan outlines spending and revenues for the next five years and includes the current year's budget and taxes.
- 2012-04-19 - Port Coquitlam Receives Annual Report and Budget Awards - (pdf) - The City has received its sixth consecutive Canadian Award for Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada, awarded for the 2010 Annual Report. Port Coquitlam was one of 20 local governments in B.C. and 43 across Canada to receive the award.
- 2012-04-18 - Volunteers Were the Stars at Port Coquitlam Event - (pdf) - About 250 people attended the City of Port Coquitlam's 2012 Volunteer Recognition Awards and Tribute at Riverside Secondary. The event was themed: "Volunteers: The Stars of our Community" to reflect the important role volunteers play in Port Coquitlam.
- 2012-04-17 - Port Coquitlam Celebrates Arrival of Rick Hansen Relay May 17 - (pdf) - Port Coquitlam is more than one of 600 communities being visited by the 12,000-km relay, which began August 24 in Newfoundland and ends May 22 in Vancouver. This relay is scheduled to stop at Terry Fox Secondary on May 17 at about 1:30pm and at Leigh Square at about 3:30pm.
- 2012-04-16 - Find Some Treasures This Weekend in Port Coquitlam - (pdf) - On Saturday April 21 from 9am to 1pm more than 120 homes from across Port Coquitlam will host garage sales as part of the city's fourth annual City-wide Garage Sale. The annual event promotes recycling by encourageing residents to dispose of unwanted items in an earth-friendly way.
- 2012-04-11 - Port Coquitlam Celebrates Youth Week May 1 to 7 - (pdf) - Held each year throughout BC from May 1-7, Youth Week recognizes the contributions of youth and strengthens the bonds between young people and their communities. Youth play akey role in organizing each year's events in Port Coquitlam, which has been celebrating youth Week since 2007.
- 2012-04-05 - Have your say April 19 about the Future of Maple Creek - (pdf) - An open house set for April 19, 6-9pm in the Outlet at Leigh Square Community Arts Village (#2100-2253 Leigh Sq.) will give the public an opportunity to learn about and provide feedback on the draft Maple Creek Integrated Watershed Management Plan being developed by the cities of Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam.
- 2012-04-03 - Share Your Waste-Loss Story and Enter to Win an iPad and Other Prizes - (pdf) - Kicking off April 4, the contest is part of the City's Waste-Loss Challenge, which encourages residents to "watch their waste-line" and think closely about how they dispose of the unwanted material in their household.
- 2012-04-02 - Survey Asks Residents and Businesses How City Can Communicate Better - (pdf) - The surveys, which take five to ten minutes to complete, are one of several ways the City is gathering input as it develops its first Strategic Communications Plan. All respondents will be entered in a draw to win one of ten $20 Parks and Recreations gift cards.

- 2012-03-21 - Join an Inline Hockey Program this Spring for Non-Contact Fun - (pdf) - Open to both boys and girls, inline hockey is a non-contact sport that focuses on fun, safety and skill development, Port Coquitlam's programs runs evenings and weekends at the Port Coquitlam Recration Complex in sessions ranging from 1-1.5 hours in length.

- 2012-03-13 - City of Port Coquitlam Begins Search for New CAO - (pdf) - After more than 27 years with the City of Port Coquitlam, CAO Tony Chong will leave the City on April 30 for a new senior executive position in the private sector.
- 2012-03-12- Declutter and Make some Cash at City-Wide Garage Sale April 21 - (pdf) - Held during Earth Week, the fourth annual event is part of the City’s ongoing waste-reduction efforts. Participants dispose of their unwanted items in an earth-friendly way, while benefiting from the additional bargain hunters drawn out by the large number of garage sales. Last year, 110 households signed up.

- 2012-03-05 - Port Coquitlam Begins Centennial Countdown - (pdf) - Preparations are underway, with plans including grassroots activities by local organizations, signature centennial events and legacy projects. The work is being spearheaded by Port Coquitlam's Spirit Committee, which coordinated the successful community celebrations and legacy projects associated with the 2010 Winter Olympics.

- 2012-02-29 - Free Tax Help Available at Wilson Centre (pdf) - Volunteers at Wilson Centre will prepare income tax returns for free for individuals with an income of $26,000 a year or less and couples with an income of $35,000 or less.
- 2012-02-29 - More Nominations Needed for Port Coquitlam Volunteer Awards (pdf) - Nominations will be accepted until Friday, March 9th in seven categories: Arts, Herigate & Cultural Awareness; Caring & Safety; Environmental Protection & Enhancement; Sports & Recreation; Youth Programs; U21 (youth under age 21); and Lifetime Volunteer.
